Job Description

Adjunct Faculty Positions

The Clinical Psychology department is seeking highly qualified candidates for adjunct faculty positions at our Dallas Campus to teach in our Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) program. Our faculty members typify a scholar-practitioner model of education to teach doctoral-level psychology courses and integrate technology into classroom instruction.

The Clinical Psychology Department is seeking qualified Adjunct Faculty to teach the following courses:

  • Social Bases of Behavior
  • Social-Organizational Psychology

The primary responsibility of adjunct faculty members is to teach courses by sharing theoretical and practical knowledge of the subject, and when applicable, encouraging direct application to the workplace within the field of clinical psychology. All adjunct faculty members at The Chicago School at Dallas are expected to be available and responsive to students during the course. This "availability" includes:

  • Timely grading of assignments and providing quality feedback
  • Being available outside of regular class meetings to address student's questions and concerns

Adjuncts will be provided course syllabi with recommended course texts prior to beginning the teaching assignment. Modifications of syllabi are possible with approval of the Department Chair.

Position Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in social psychology or industrial-organizational psychology
  • Graduate of an APA accredited doctoral program (if degree is in clinical psychology)
  • Certain courses require licensure as a psychologist
  • Previous teaching experience (3 years preferred)
  • Exemplary professional experience
  • Engagement in research and scholarship (preferred)
  • Strong commitment to academic excellence, research, community service, and diversity

The Dallas campus is located in Richardson, TX. We are committed to and welcome diversity in both our faculty and student body. We value social justice in scholarship and practice and helping students appreciate the role that psychologists can play as being the agents for social change. Review of applications will begin immediately.

The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required of personnel so classified. All personnel may be required to perform duties outside of their normal responsibilities from time to time, as needed.

This job posting, and all others for adjunct faculty roles with The Chicago School, are posted as "evergreen" roles. This means that there is usually an ongoing need for departments to hire 1-2 adjuncts each semester (usually for teaching specialized topics), and they prefer to keep a running pool of applicants to select from when the need to hire arises. Given this information, please note that your application to our evergreen roles will be reviewed on an as needed basis and you may not hear back immediately. If you would like an update on your application status, please email National-HR@thechicagoschool.edu.

This opportunity is budgeted at $1,124-1,540 per credit and may vary per course with student enrollment. Additional compensation factors may impact total compensation.
