The Assistant Director of Athletics for Facilities and Operations serves as a key member of the athletic department senior leadership team, contributing to strategic planning and operational decision-making. This position is responsible for the management and oversight of athletic facilities, operations, and equipment. It involves coordinating and supervising part-time employees and student workers to ensure the smooth execution of all athletic events and activities. This role requires a commitment to fostering a culture of excellence, sportsmanship, and academic achievement. Additionally, the Assistant Director will collaborate with other senior leaders to enhance departmental initiatives and support broader operations based on the candidate's experience and strengths.Essential FunctionsInteracts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.Oversee the day-to-day operations, maintenance, enhancements, and scheduling of athletic facilities to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance with regulations.Plan, coordinate, and supervise the logistics of athletic events, including setup, staffing, security, and crowd management.Foster a team culture that prioritizes sportsmanship, inclusivity, and the holistic development of student-athletes.Recruit, train, schedule, and manage part-time employees and student workers, ensuring a high level of service and professionalism.Maintain inventory, procurement, and distribution of athletic equipment while ensuring proper storage and usage.Serve as a strategic member of the athletic department senior leadership team, contributing to the overall direction and decision-making of the department.Uphold the institution’s mission and values while striving to achieve competitive success.Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required):Strong Leadership Skills: Ability to inspire, mentor, and develop student-athletes and staff while fostering a positive team culture.Budget & Resource Management: Experience managing budgets, allocating resources efficiently, and ensuring cost-effective operations.Customer Service & Stakeholder Engagement: Commitment to delivering a positive experience for students, athletes, staff, and community partners.Effective Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for engaging with student-athletes, colleagues, alumni, and other stakeholders.Teamwork and Collaboration: Ability to work effectively within a collaborative athletic department and contribute to the institution's broader mission.Commitment to Student-Athlete Success: Dedication to supporting student-athletes' academic, personal, and professional development.Technological Proficiency: Competence with software and tools related to program management, recruitment, and communication.Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, including scheduling, budgeting, and program logistics, efficiently and effectively.Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:Education:Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferredANDExperience:A minimum of three years of relevant professional experience, preferably at the collegiate level, with demonstrated success in team development.
