About the Position As the Musical Accompanist for the Theater and Dance Department you will work in cooperation with various dance faculty to provide piano and/or percussion accompaniment and musical guidance during dance technique, modern and improvisation classes under minimal direction. Typical duties include: Playing musical accompaniment for classes. Communication with faculty over course needs and cooperation with students and instructors for a smooth collaborative environment. Equipment set up and break down. Equipment maintenance. Required Qualifications Improvise and perform music with appropriate rhythms and tempos by observing the movement of dancers. Prepare and be consistent and the studio. Ability to play piano or percussion instruments proficiently and follow musical direction. Ability to read musical notation. Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with students, faculty and staff.
