Job Description

The CNC Programmer is responsible for creating, modifying, and optimizing programs for Amada punch, laser and press brake machines using Dr. Abe, AP100 and 4ie software. This role ensures that sheet metal components are manufactured accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with engineering specifications and quality standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Being self-motivated with good work ethics and require minimal supervision.
• Proficiency with Amada’s Dr. Abe and 4ie software platforms but not limited to.
• Interpret engineering shop drawings and work orders to develop flat pattern layout programs and bending sequences programs using Dr. Abe and 4ie software but not limited to.
• Program Amada punch, laser and press brake machines, ensuring compatibility with current file revisions and part specifications.
• Collaborate with engineering, production and quality teams to resolve manufacturability issues.
• Maintain organized program libraries and update documentation such as setup sheets and work instructions.
• Participate in troubleshooting sessions with software support (e.g., Amada America) to resolve CAD/CAM or machine interface issues.
• Ensure all programs meet safety, quality, and productivity standards.
• Ordering of materials as required per project.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Schedule workload contingent on production needs and at the discretion of management.
• Ability to multitask and meet scheduled project completions in a timely manner.
• Good attendance and punctuality are essential requirements to adequately perform this position.
• Recommend and implement software improvements and upgrades to increase process efficiency.

Preferred Skills and/or Education:

• Minimum 5 years of experience programming punch and lasers for sheet metal fabrication.
• Strong understanding of G-code, nesting strategies, and tooling selection.
• Familiarity with CAD platforms such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or AP100 2D CAD.
• Working knowledge of Amada SDDJ data management system.
• Ability to read and interpret shop drawings/blueprints, technical drawings, and BOMs.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Be able to operate all equipment effectively and safely on the shop floor.
• Working knowledge and proficient in Excel, Word, and MS Teams.
