Job Description

The Research Assistant supports the laboratory research efforts of the Sousounis laboratory in the department of Molecular, Cellular, and Biomedical Sciences, contributing to general laboratory and animal room operations as well as ongoing scientific investigations through experimental design, data collection and sample preparation. Working closely with the principal investigator and students, the Research Assistant plays a key role in ensuring that experiments are conducted accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with established protocols and safety regulations. This position requires attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic laboratory environment.Duties/ResponsibilitiesLaboratory Research Support (50%)Perform experiments and procedures according to established protocolsTroubleshoot experimental protocolsMaintain experimental recordsData Analysis and Documentation (25%)Organize and analyze experimental dataAssist in data visualizationLaboratory Operations (25%)Maintain laboratory and animal room functionalityMinimum QualificationsMinimum Acceptable Education & Experience:Bachelor’s degreeKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Familiarity with standard laboratory techniques – sample preparation, pipetting, microscopy, PCR, gel electrophoresisKnowledge of experimental design and analysisThe University of New Hampshire is an R1 Carnegie classification research institution providing comprehensive, high-quality undergraduate and graduate programs of distinction.
