Researcher to function as a technical expert in the molecular profiling from human tissue samples within the Comprehensive Cancer Center. Responsibilities include high through-put analysis and genomic analysis of gene expression; planning, designing, executing, and managing research projects related to the control of development and cancer; extracting, collecting, analyzing and interpreting research data; writing manuscripts, articles, abstracts and research reports based on laboratory research results; assisting with development and preparation of grant proposals to obtain outside funding in support of research; preparing summaries of research findings for submission to sponsoring agencies; conceptualizing, designing and executing complex laboratory experiments; planning and executing advanced molecular and cellular techniques; planning, coordinating and overseeing processing and analysis of data; analyzing and interpreting research data; developing and implementing new and/or revised research methodology and techniques; planning and testing experimental designs, sampling techniques, and analytical methods; developing and establishing research controls, criteria and standards; performing critical analysis of literature relevant to research; collaborating with principal investigator to write project reports, articles and other documents; attending and presenting research results at national and international scientific conferences, workshops and seminars; assisting with development, writing and preparation of grant proposals to obtain new or renewal of extramural funding in support of research; investigating, identifying and recommending possible sources of research funding; participating in developing and managing grant budgets; monitoring expenses; monitoring and enforcing laboratory safety procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, as well as local, state and federal regulations, including proper disposal and maintenance of regulated materials; providing scientific guidance and technical expertise to undergraduate students, graduate students, post-doctoral fellow, and staff; managing daily operations of the laboratory; overseeing and initiating procurement of lab supplies and equipment; negotiating and overseeing equipment service contracts and repairs; establishing relationships and developing collaborations with other laboratories; mentoring and training research personnel as needed.
