Overview

REI is a different kind of company. As a co-op, we put purpose before profits and act in the long-term interests of our members. We believe that time outside is fundamental to a life well lived, and as a member of the Digital Product team, you’ll contribute to REI’s mission to connect every person to the power of the outdoors and engage them in the fight to protect it.

Within REI's Digital organization, we empower customers and members to effortlessly find the products they love through intuitive, engaging, and intelligent experiences. Our team combines REI’s deep outdoor expertise with algorithmic intelligence to deliver digital experiences that drive value, trust, and user satisfaction—at scale.

We’re looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead the strategy, experience, and technical evolution of Search Sponsors and Services across REI’s e-commerce ecosystem. In this role, you’ll lead the development of onsite advertising solutions that integrate with the Co-op REI Media Network, delivering relevant and respectful ad experiences across web and mobile. You’ll also help scale next-generation Search integrations that drive adoption of our AI-based core Search engine and maximize its long-term value.

You’ll work cross-functionally with Engineering, Marketing Technology, Vendor Management, Employee Tools, Analytics, UX Design, and Research to define and deliver high-impact product experiences across our digital and internal platforms. Join a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment where you’ll help shape the future of onsite advertising and search services at REI.

Responsibilities

  • Define the monetization product strategy for Search-Sponsored Listings and broader Retail Media Network (RMN) onsite ad formats (e.g., sponsored banners, etc.) across REI’s digital ecosystem.
  • Identify problem space and opportunities for digital ads customer experience (CX), Search platform integration, and system design optimization through close collaboration with technical and non-technical partners.
  • Build and maintain a clear, outcomes-based product roadmap aligned to REI’s business and member experience goals.
  • Define, design, and execute product experiments, partnering with Analytics to measure results and inform iteration.
  • Leverage customer insights, market trends, and competitive intelligence to prioritize and advocate for product investments.
  • Communicate product strategy, progress, and outcomes effectively to leadership, cross-functional partners, and stakeholders.
  • Operate with a mindset of collaboration for continuous improvement, data-informed decision-making, and customer-centric innovation.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience working on digital consumer products, including 5+ years of product management experience, with a focus in digital advertising technologies, search services, or ML/AI-powered digital products.
  • Proven track record leading end-to-end product initiatives— from concept through launch and optimization—within complex digital ecosystems.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical partners.
  • Experience using product analytics, A/B testing, UX and Customer Research to guide strategy and inform decision-making.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in e-commerce or marketplace environments working on Ads Experience and Search.
  • Ability to integrate monetization strategies while preserving customer trust and delivering brand-aligned, user-centric experiences.
  • Knowledge of advertising performance metrics (e.g., ROAS, fill rate, conversion rate) and their relationship to business outcomes like margin and CX KPIs.
  • Experience navigating platform governance, balancing internal partner needs (e.g., merchandising, content ops, vendor management) with customer-facing goals.
  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or equivalent practical experience.
