We seek candidates with a passion for helping people access critical services, a commitment to excellent customer service, and the ability to work with detailed documents and processes to determine eligibility for assistance programs within our Economic Assistance or Medicaid teams. The work our teammates perform in determining eligibility is crucial in ensuring Nebraskans receive necessary food, financial assistance, supportive services, or medical care. Job Duties As an Eligibility Operations Worker, you will undergo 6-8 weeks of paid training to prepare for determining eligibility for individuals in our programs. Daily tasks include reviewing applications, verifying or updating financial and demographic information via electronic, phone, or in-person exchanges. In our Customer Service Centers, you will also use call center software, phones, automated call distribution, and voice response systems. Requirements/Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: 24 semester hours of post-high school education in behavioral sciences, public/business administration, social sciences, education, or a related field, OR experience in customer service, public assistance eligibility, financial or medical claims processing, unemployment services, or a combination of education and experience. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in human services, case management, or eligibility determination for financial assistance programs. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of customer service principles, interviewing practices, and sociological conditions influencing human behavior. Strong skills in Microsoft Office and navigating multiple computer programs. Ability to show empathy, work independently, meet deadlines, protect confidential information, interpret policies, exercise critical thinking, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
